The Rock is most definitely Prog
The BBC are running a series of TV programmes celebrating Prog Rock. The rehabilitation of this music format is long overdue, but a series of modern bands have been venturing along these byways for a while, Radiohead, Coldplay and Sigur Ros to name but three.
To celebrate, here’s a “classic” prog rock band who had greater success both financially and artistically after Punk came along and supposedly made them redundant. The abiding shame of the late 1970’s early 1980’s is that a very small number of “journalists” working in the specialist music press, had a disproportionately large influence over radio and TV and the music that got played.
Punk is Dead. Long Live Prog!
Hippy Happy Birthday huns, hope your day is going well and you be eating least half a cake with many many celebratory drinks!
Thank you. No cake as I am so fat after drinking loads of beer at Christmas!
