The Fall
I may previously have mentioned the band The Fall, if not on this blog, then in comments elsewhere. To give you some idea of their strangeness and charm, here’s a performance from The Old Grey Whistle Test, complete with Michael Clark’s ballet troupe in very ’80’s clothing.
You probably had to be there.
The dancing is appalling.
The music is somewhat better.
Ah but the costumes, the costumes!
Actually this makes my point about the “Myth” of punk. It is every bit as pretentious as the prog-rockers they despised, in fact it makes “Rick Wakeman’s ‘Myths and Legends of King Arthur And The Knights of The Round Table’ On Ice” sound like a good idea.
You have one in the cupboard don’t you – admit it… go ons admit it!
Strange that the band could be classified as ‘punk’. I suppose I considered ‘punk’ anthithetical to artsy.
